SS Plate Weight Calculator By Thickness, Width, and Length

This SS plate weight calculator calculates the weight according to the thickness, width, and length of the metal in millimeters, inches, feet, or meter units. You can easily calculate weight by converting units and save your precious time.

SS plate weight calculation formula

The formula of the SS metal plate is based on the volume of the plate and the density of the metal. The density of SS metal is almost the same as of mild steel (MS). Still, there are many differences between SS and MS but, the basic formula of SS metal remains the same, only changed the density:

Weight in kilograms = Volume (in cubic millimeters) × Density (in grams per cubic centimeter). It is common to use the following formula to calculate weight:

Weight (Kg) = (thickness x width x length x density) / 1000

Note: Division by 1000 is used to convert the volume from cubic millimeters to liters and to obtain weight in kilograms.

SS Metal Density:

The density of stainless steel (SS) can vary depending on its alloy composition. A commonly used approximate density for stainless steel is 7.9 to 8.0 grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm³) at room temperature.

However, the exact density may vary depending on the specific grade and composition of the stainless steel being used. If you want to learn more about stainless steel, check here – Wikipedia
